People either love it or seem turned off by it. The differences between the versions are obviously model-count and feature limitations, you get 39 gear models with CS, 77 with SE, 177 with the standard version and 416 with Max.

2i2 model might be sufficient for you, I went for the 6i6 as it has enough inputs that i can run in some of my own pedals and there is VERY little latency as long as your computer can handle the software side of things. The effects can be cheesy, and the presets suck (but I expect that). AmpliTube 5 is available as four versions: CS, SE, ‘Standard’ and Max. However, I would spend just a little more and get one of the Focusrite Scarlett (2nd gen) series - I bought a 6i6 last month and its great, and easily beats those other two options (but its a different piece of kit, meant for main use rather than as a portable option). If you're not using PC/Mac though, and chasing a portable (iPad) option then Bias would be my pick as the tablet version is really good.įor an interface, there are some really good ones that don't cost a fortune - if its for a single guitar and nothing else, then iRigHD or Apogee Jam are good with either tablets or laptops and sound really good. Bias sounds a bit samey and had a higher latency on desktop in comparison to Amplitube and LePous IMO.

Lots of suggestions on software so will skim over but personally Amplitude 4 Deluxe is good and would try the free version first as you can demo gear with it too (I got it included with Irig HD purchase - a steal -, so not sure if I would pay full value!). Cab simulation is much better on Amplitube, and with that being said, sometimes I can get much nicer cleans (on Amplitube) than GR4.
